Faithful Five: Red and Hearts

Audra doesn't know it, but she renamed this weekly post: Faithful Five, not to be confused with the Furious Five.

See Shannan at Flower Patch Farmgirl for inspiration

The Red Badge of Courage inspired an explosion of Civil War pages.  Seriously!  How did I miss this book?

Warmer weather sends our trees into seasonal confusion disorder.  Tiny red buds are forming.

So much excitement when the little box from Vermont Branch Company arrived.  We also listened to a new audio story find at Sparkle Stories.

Five for Five: Last Week of January

I promise I will get my writing mojo back soon. (Keep repeating...I will write again. I will write again.  I will write again.)

We've had some psycho weather in the South of late.  Three days of record highs.  Four days of turtle neck sweaters and scarves.  Me?  I'm still wearing a healthy bit of baby fat and sporting the same old maxi skirts whether they are in style or not.  It just works and makes me feel feminine.  This from the girl who rarely stepped out in skirts as a child, and if she did, wore shorts underneath, which were sure protection against gawkers when hanging upside down from the monkey bars.

Loving the Luke study at Good Morning Girls via email with some sisters at church.  They have some of the best insights and encourage me everyday.

Check out Ginny's blog for great ideas like this homemade lickable stamp glue. You'll have to heat it up each time since it congeals, but with the almond flavoring, it's hard to stop creating.  Makes you ask: what else is gelatin good for?!

Five

It started as four.  Four things I knew I wanted to take priority every day.   The list grew to five when I realized the thing, the most important one of all was left out.  Now the Five will guide our days, though I long for them to come into their own organically, slowly, gently.  A little here and a little there until a sweet rhythm establishes itself and the five are counted on and eventually longed after.

1.  Time in the Word

2.  Time creating

3.  Time outdoors regardless of the weather

 4.  Time in books, piles and piles of them

5.  Quiet time in our own spaces
This one has surprised me most of all.  The younger ones ask for it, and the sound of their sweet play is lyrical.  Sometimes, yes, it is punctuated with a harsh note. But, the general song is, well, music to my ears.

Want to join along in Five this year?  I have great hopes.
