My newest delight: afternoon tea. (thanks to LL Barkat and Rumors of Water)
Just the way my mom comforted me. Perfection.
Completely from scratch by the Dancer: Mocha cupcakes.
Breakfast cake fit for an Incarnation morning celebration.
Comfort food straight from my dad. Better than perfection. Cheese grits, y'all.
I have a confession to make, sweet Beth, and you may never look at me the same: I have never tried grits. Never. And I'm thinking, since I have lived in the South for almost 9 years, I really ought to.
ReplyDeleteBut enough about my culinary inadequacies...
Lovely pictures and that is a super nifty cup you have for making tea! What kind have you been steeping lately?
Hoping for a phone call catch up date with you soon. I got Breath For The Bones and am reading a little bit at a time, trying to actually absorb what she is saying and not just speed read. Haven't been feeling very good lately though, so my powers of concentration are somewhat lacking.
Love, love, love you. xo
Wow. I just realized how little I visit my own blog. Dear Amy-cheese grits would be the best way to start your southern culinary adventures. Just follow the directions on the package for yielding 3 cups of quick cook grits and add about six slices of white American cheese off heat. Stir until melted. Add salt to taste. Truly delicious.
ReplyDeleteI've been taking my time with Breath as well. It's been good for my rather mellow soul of late.
The cup was on sale at Teavana around the first of the year, and I love it, though it does get quite hot. So far...basic black tea, with cream and sugar, of course.
Hope you get to feeling better. And love to you, too!
